DATES TO BE DETERMINED:
RECONNECT WITH YOUR OWN TRUE NATURE: AN IYENGAR YOGA AND ADVENTURE RETREAT WITH LAUREEN RUECKNER
Laureen and her husband, Wolfgang, return to Dominica
for the 5th time (3rd time hosting a retreat at Jungle Bay). They look
forward to sharing with others the experience of practicing the sacred
art of yoga in a place of such unchanging beauty. Daily morning asana
classes and several afternoon restorative classes will leave time to participate in some unforgettable excursions. (Consider joining Wolf on
a breath-taking hike to the world's largest boiling volcanic lake!).
Whether you are discovering the bounty of the rainforest, or sipping rum punch, overlooking the pool, take time to get to know the people of Dominica. They seem to have found some of the answers to life that the rest of us seek.
Laureen began her practice of yoga in 1969 in the Caribbean! While serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in St. Lucia, a French Canadian man, Jojo Jausserin taught her headstand and shoulderstand on the beach. When they returned to the U.S. two years later, Wolf and Laureen took their first structured yoga class in the weight room at Brandeis University. Laureen found her way to the Iyengar method, eventually studying with many of the senior teachers, including B.K.S. Iyengar, and his daughter, Geeta, on their visits to the U.S. Under the tutelage of Senior Iyengar teacher, Patricia Walden, Laureen became certified at the Junior 1 level and continues to study with, and assist, Patricia in Cambridge, Ma.
 Although
this workshop is for mixed levels, some experience of yoga is
necessary. Non-yoga participants will find much to do and are certainly
welcome.
